The culinary world is mourning the loss of respected chef Chris Wheeler, whose passion for food and generosity left a lasting impact on colleagues and diners alike. Known for appearances on television cooking programs and for his dedication to fine cuisine, Wheeler built a career that inspired both young chefs and experienced professionals. Over the years, he appeared on popular shows such as Great British Menu, Hell’s Kitchen, and Saturday Kitchen, where viewers admired his calm presence in the kitchen and his respect for traditional cooking techniques. Beyond television, he was known for mentoring younger chefs and sharing his knowledge generously.

Wheeler’s culinary journey began at a young age. After completing his training, he traveled to France to refine his skills and gain experience in professional kitchens. He worked at the Domaine de Bassible Hotel and later at a Michelin-starred restaurant in Ségos, where he developed the discipline and creativity required for high-level gastronomy. His talent quickly drew attention, and he later joined the brigade of renowned chef Marco Pierre White, who recognized his potential early in his career. By the time Wheeler returned to the United Kingdom, he had already built a strong foundation for a successful future in the culinary world.

In 2006, Wheeler gained public attention after completing the London Marathon dressed as a chef while flipping a pancake throughout the entire 26-mile race, finishing in under seven hours. The playful challenge reflected both his energy and his love of connecting with the public. Later in his career, he joined The Hurlingham Club in London, where he continued sharing his culinary expertise.

Friends and colleagues remember Wheeler not only for his skill but also for his kindness, encouragement, and lasting influence on the culinary community.
