A few hours before the wedding, I went out to pick up my bouquet from the courier

On Catherine and Alexander’s wedding day, a mysterious old woman appeared in their private driveway, ready to tell Catherine’s fortune.

Catherine, who didn’t believe in such things, was skeptical… until the old woman revealed details that couldn’t be faked.

The morning of my wedding went exactly as I had imagined. Everything was a little chaotic, I was enchanted, and the atmosphere was filled with love. The bridesmaids would soon arrive, and we were about to enjoy a light lunch with a cheese plate and a glass of champagne.

My dress was hanging in a bag, and I was getting ready to marry Alexander, my best friend and the man who made me believe in eternal love.

Our wedding was going to be extraordinary.

Alexander and I decided to get married that evening on a yacht, so we had all day to prepare for this new phase of our lives…

At least that’s what I thought.

I put on my mask and went outside to meet the delivery man with my bouquet.

I had specifically ordered last-minute delivery so that the flowers would be fresh and not wilt.

But as I walked toward my private driveway and waited for the delivery truck, I noticed her.

She was standing in the driveway that led through my yard.

An older woman with tanned skin, messy gray hair, and clothes that looked like they hadn’t been washed in weeks.

But despite her appearance, her eyes were piercing. There was something unsettling about her composure.

“The girl,” she called to me in a soft but confident voice. “Come to me, girl.”

I was frozen.

Everything inside me told me to ignore her and go back to the house, but her gaze seemed to be stopping me.

Against my will, I approached. Maybe she’s hungry? I could make her some tea and a sandwich and send her off.

After all, it was my wedding day. How could I scare away an old woman?

“Give me your hand, girl,” she said, holding out her palm. “I want to read your destiny. Let’s see what the lines on your hand say.”

“I’m sorry,” I said with a wry smile. “But I don’t think so.”

She smiled a little.

“You don’t have to believe, my dear,” he said. “You just have to listen. Maybe something will resonate in your soul.”

Before I could say anything, she carefully took my hand. Her grip was surprisingly strong for such a fragile man. I was supposed to remove my hand, but I didn’t.

“Does the man you’re going to marry,” she began, looking at the lines on my palm, “have a birthmark on his right thigh? A heart-shaped one?”

I’m frozen. My stomach sank. No one knew about Alexander’s birthmark. No one.

“And his mother?” she continued. “Was she never in his life? Is she dead?”

I slowly nodded, chill running through my body.

“How… how do you know?”

Her gaze turned serious.

“Girl, he’s going to ruin your life. But you have another choice. If you want to know the truth, look inside the stuffed hare he keeps in his closet.”

I stepped back, pulling out the arm.

“What are you talking about? It lives in India.”

“Trust your instincts,” she replied. “And remember: love built on lies will crumble.”

I was ready to turn around and leave, but here came my bouquet.

I quickly picked it up from the delivery man and rushed into the house, closing the door behind me.

My heart was pounding, and her words echoed in my head.

Stuffed bunny.

Alejandro told me about it. A toy his mother gave him before she d.ied. He kept it in the closet as a souvenir.

I took off my mask and quickly typed a message in the chat with my friends:

*Girls, I’m going away for a few minutes. I’ll write it when I get back. Then we celebrate!*

“Okay, Katia,” I told myself. “It’s time to find that bunny.”

Alejandro was at his father’s house, getting ready there. So I’m home alone. And I can do Whatever he wants.

I opened his closet and got a hare. The gray fur was a little worn, and I noticed a zipper on my back.

My heart was beating faster. I unzipped it and pulled out a bundle of papers.

*Son, why are you ashamed of me? Please don’t leave me. I love you. – Mom.*

I’m frozen. My heart sank. Next note:

*Why aren’t you answering? I’ve been calling you for weeks.*

And the third:

*Please let me see you for once. I need to know you’re okay.*

My legs gave way, and I fell to the ground. His mother was alive. She was desperate to contact him.

How did he transmit those letters? Through the mailbox?

I realized: Alexander lied. About his mother. One of the most important moments of his life.

I called him.

“Katya, what’s wrong? Is everything Okay?

– Come home. Right away.

When he arrived, I showed him the letters. His face went white, and he sat down and hid his face in his hands.

“It’s complicated,” he said quietly.

I glared at him.

– You lied to me. How can I marry you?

I made him explain.

He admitted that his father forced him to leave his mother after their divorce.

Tonight, I met that old woman again. Only now I knew her name: she was Alexander’s mother.

The wedding was canceled, but after a few months, we had a cozy little celebration where his mother was with us.

Sometimes, love isn’t about perfect principles, but about returning to the truth and those who truly matter.
