During my honeymoon cruise, I became seasick and went back to our cabin for medication.

“Give me your GPS coordinates.”

I read the coordinates from the yacht’s navigation display and waited while he checked our position. What he told me next was the first piece of good news I had heard all afternoon.

“We’re forty minutes away on the secondary intercept vessel. Stay down and don’t consume anything they give you. Can you make it another thirty minutes?”

I looked toward the darkening ocean beyond the balcony doors. Flynn believed I was becoming weaker with every passing minute, and if I suddenly appeared completely alert, he would immediately know something had gone wrong.

“I’ll keep playing the victim until the last second.”

Then I added one final instruction.

“Bring restraints.”

The connection ended, and I hid both devices before climbing back beneath the blankets. From somewhere outside the suite, I could hear the first distant rumble of thunder as the approaching storm moved across the Caribbean.

Flynn thought the weather would erase the evidence of what he planned to do.

He had no idea I had already recorded the entire conspiracy.

PART 3: Playing the Helpless Bride

After ending the call, I hid the burner phone and satellite device beneath the false bottom of my suitcase, then returned everything exactly as I had found it. Flynn could not suspect that I was alert, so I climbed back into bed and forced myself to appear increasingly affected by the drugs while waiting for my father’s security team to reach us.

The glass of drugged water still sat on the nightstand, now filled with clean water. I drank enough to make it appear that I had obeyed Flynn, then smeared a faint trace of the remaining white residue around the rim so that nothing looked disturbed.

A few minutes later, the suite door opened again. Flynn entered carrying the same affectionate expression he had worn throughout our honeymoon, and if I hadn’t heard his conversation downstairs, I might still have mistaken his performance for genuine concern.

“Feeling any better, sweetheart?”

I let my head sink deeper into the pillow and deliberately slurred my answer.

“Still tired… everything feels heavy.”

“That’s normal. You just need to rest.”

Flynn sat beside me and gently stroked my hair, the same gesture that had comforted me only days earlier. Now every touch made my skin crawl because I knew those hands intended to guide me toward the railing once the storm became strong enough to disguise what happened.

He glanced toward the water glass and seemed satisfied when he noticed the level had dropped. Then he checked his watch, kissed my forehead, and told me he would return later because some fresh air might help my supposed seasickness.

I nearly laughed at the cruelty hidden inside those words, but I kept my eyes half closed. Flynn had rehearsed his story carefully: his sick wife became restless, went outside during dangerous weather, lost her balance, and disappeared before anyone could save her.

Once he left, I checked the time. The security team was still approaching, but I had no guarantee they would reach the yacht before Flynn decided to act, so survival depended on maintaining the illusion that his plan remained completely intact.

I also needed to protect the recording. I saved a second copy and prepared it for transmission through the secure connection, ensuring that even if Flynn discovered the burner phone, the evidence wouldn’t disappear with me.

Outside, the weather deteriorated rapidly. Wind rattled the balcony doors, waves began striking the hull with greater force, and the yacht rolled noticeably beneath me as the approaching squall transformed the peaceful Caribbean evening into exactly the cover Flynn had been waiting for.

Shortly before midnight, footsteps stopped outside my door.

I quickly returned the phone to its hiding place and allowed my body to go limp against the mattress. When Flynn entered, he no longer bothered pretending to be worried.

“Mabel. Wake up.”

I gave him only a weak murmur.

He grabbed my arm and pulled me upright, wrapping one arm around my waist when my legs appeared unable to support me. I deliberately let my feet drag while he guided me through the corridor, making myself seem almost unconscious as we moved toward the aft deck.

The moment the exterior door opened, rain struck my face and cold wind whipped through my robe. Flynn tightened his grip and dragged me onto the wet teak deck, where Aidan and Fiona were already waiting near the stern in dark raincoats.

“Is she under?”

“She can barely hold her head up.”

Neither of them sounded frightened anymore. Their affectionate family personas had vanished because they believed there was no longer any reason to maintain them.

Flynn pulled me closer to the railing while Aidan repeatedly glanced around the deck to ensure no crew members were watching. Fiona stood several feet away, visibly impatient, and I realized they believed only a few more seconds separated them from the fortune they had spent months planning to steal.

Flynn leaned close enough for me to hear him over the storm.

“Goodbye, Mabel. Thanks for the three hundred million.”

He began lifting me toward the lower railing.

I knew I could no longer pretend to be unconscious.

“Wait.”

Flynn stopped, clearly amused that I could still speak.

“What was that, sweetheart? Want to say your last words?”

I planted both feet firmly against the deck, straightened my back, and lifted my head. The confusion spreading across Flynn’s face was almost immediate because the helpless woman he had been dragging suddenly looked directly into his eyes with complete awareness.

“I said… look up.”

Flynn’s expression changed.

Before he could respond, a deafening mechanical roar broke through the storm.

And all three of them looked toward the sky.

PART 4: The Trap Collapsed

The sound above us grew louder until it overwhelmed even the storm. Flynn, Aidan, and Fiona stared upward as powerful spotlights suddenly flooded the aft deck, illuminating the rain-soaked yacht so brightly that none of them had anywhere left to hide.
