In a quiet area, in a modest but cozy house, there lived a young family with a little daughter.
A cat named Sandy had lived with them for many years. She was taken in when she was still a kitten, and since then she has become not just a pet, but a real guardian of the house.
Sandy became especially attached to the child: she slept by her crib, met her from kindergarten, and seemed to understand her without words.
But recently, the cat’s behavior has changed.
Every night, she came into the little girl room, sat next to her and began to… hiss. At first it was short, almost inaudible. Then – louder and louder, with tension.
At first, the parents didn’t pay attention to it, blaming it on the cat’s nighttime whims, on her age, on her dreams.
But the hissing was repeated again and again, always near the child’s bed, and only at night.
One day, the mother woke up from a particularly loud and sharp sound.
Running into the room, she found a strange scene: Sandy was standing on the bed, arching her back and loudly hissing while looking at the child, and her daughter was quietly snoring in her sleep.
There was little lighting, everything seemed normal… but there was something elusively alarming in this scene.
The mother, horrified, grabbed the child from the crib and ran out of the children’s room. After this incident, the couple thought that the cat was dangerous for the girl and wanted to give her up to a shelter

The next day, a specialist was called. An inspection of the basement and the foundation of the house gave a shocking result: a whole colony of scorpions lived under the house, which no one suspected.
Due to the heat and seasonal activity, they began to make their way inside, and only Sandy noticed them all this time and protected the girl.
Since then, the cat in this house began to be treated not just as a pet, but as a real hero.
After all, it was she who, every night, protected the child’s sleep from danger that adults did not even see.
